Broghan Masters is a civil litigator and labour lawyer with a focus on construction law, contract disputes, and appeals.
Broghan routinely appears before the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Broghan also quite frequently appears before the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Broghan’s construction labour practice involves collective agreement negotiations, grievances, certification applications, applications to terminate bargaining rights, and unfair labour practice complaints. Broghan’s construction litigation practice involves construction liens, breach of contract claims, breach of trust claims, adjudications, and any other matter which pertains to the Construction Act. Broghan’s general civil litigation practice involves contract disputes, commodity disputes, and real estate disputes, among other matters. Broghan is experienced in appeals to the Divisional Court and appeals to the Ontario Court of Appeal on labour and civil litigation matters.
Broghan is a keen legal theorist and strategist but always looks at practical business solutions and alternative dispute resolution options prior to and throughout the litigation process. Broghan is known to be a formidable advocate and a true force to be reckoned with in court settings.
Broghan obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Rights and Law and graduated with High Distinction. Broghan obtained her Juris Doctor degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. While at Osgoode, Broghan worked at Parkdale Community Legal Services in the Workers’ Rights group and was the Vice President of OUTLaws, a professional organization for 2SLGBTQIA+ law students. Broghan articled at a mid-sized law firm in Toronto before joining Rousseau Mazzuca LLP as a first year Associate.
Broghan is a proud member of and advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Broghan is on the Executive of the Ontario Bar Association’s Sexual and Gender Diversity Alliance Section. Outside the office, Broghan enjoys long-distance running, film, and curling up with a good book. Broghan is a devoted Leafs fan and holds out hope that, at some point in her lifetime, the Stanley Cup will return to Toronto.
Recent Representative Work:
Drafted and negotiated various construction labour collective agreements between major construction unions and employers, including a multinational construction company.
