Sam provides strategic counsel in the areas of construction and infrastructure law. He has extensive experience in project management and is a certified project manager as well as a lawyer. He brings a modern and focused approach to all legal engagements.
Sam assists clients in the negotiation, drafting and review of construction contracts and at all stages of the commercial tender process. In addition to his private sector experience with developers and commercial clients, Sam has acted for multiple public sector clients, including as legal counsel to one of Ontario’s fastest growing municipalities. He is well-versed in public procurement, by-law compliance and municipal construction matters.
Sam also has wide-ranging litigation experience before all levels of court in Ontario and regularly prosecutes and defends many different types of legal proceedings on behalf of clients, including lien, trust, insurance, professional negligence, delay, deficiency and bond claims.
Sam is a member of various trade and professional organizations, including the Project Management Institute, the Advocates’ Society, where he currently holds the position of Chair of the Construction Law Practice Group, and the Ontario Bar Association. He regularly contributes to legal publications and industry seminars.
I work with a lot of law firms in the core. I’ve seen Rousseau Mazzuca grow from a few competent and friendly people to the diverse firm that they are now. Every addition to their team has added uniquely talented people that are both professional and friendly. Rousseau Mazzuca persistently challenges themselves to be better and it shows.
