Broghan Masters

Broghan Masters is a civil litigator and labour lawyer with a focus on construction law.

Broghan routinely appears before the Ontario Labour Relations Board on construction labour matters including grievances, certification applications, applications to terminate bargaining rights and unfair labour practice complaints. Broghan also routinely appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on construction litigation matters involving construction liens and breach of contract claims. Broghan has also appeared before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Divisional Court, and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

While in law school, Broghan served as Vice President of OUTLaws, a professional organization for 2SLGBTQIA+ law students.

Outside of the office, Broghan enjoys playing guitar, long-distance running, and craft breweries. Broghan is devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and Raptors.

Representative Work:

  • Drafted and negotiated a collective agreement between a major construction union and a global construction company

  • Successfully argued a complex, two-year long grievance between a major construction union and an employer accused of violating the collective agreement

  • Successfully defended at trial a contractor accused of not completing its scope of work and not rectifying deficiencies and also defeated the owner’s claim of fundamental breach of contract

  • Represented a school student in a civil sexual assault claim at the Ontario Court of Appeal
